Shokhan Osman Mahmud was born in Kirkuk city which is a Multi ethnicistic, multilingual and multi cultural city thus she speaks three languages; Kurdish, Arabic, and English fluently. She has a Master degree in Medical Microbiology from the College of Pharmacy/ Hawler Medical University. She is an assistant lecturer of Microbiology at Hawler Medical University, Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. She teaches different subjects including Histology, Microbiology, Immunology, Instrumentation and Laboratory Techniques. She has two published articles with more than 15 articles not published yet. Her current research is related to Colon Cancer, Gastric ulcer, and Wound Healing.

- For about 8 years I have been working as an assistant manager of two Humanitarian NGOs in Erbil city which are; Pana Center for supporting Cancer patients in Kurdistan and the centre of guiding and psychiatric treatment for women, Erbil City, Iraq from 2012 and till yet.
