Bnar Sulaiman Shekho, 4th year medical student at Hawler Medical University.
Bnar Shekho will participate as a speaker in AMENDS Conference at Oxford University. Aside from her studying, she has specialized in empowerment of the civil society by giving trainings on leadership and capacity building. Bnar is a social activist, Global Shaper at WEF, as well as licensed international trainer on medical education at International Federation of Medical Students Association. At a very young age, she started volunteering in different projects and she has been involved in more than forty major projects and been an organizer of most of them. She has been an active member in many NGOs, both in national and international levels. Therefore, she was chosen among thousands of applicants to be enrolled in the SUSI 2017 exchange program in the US where she learned more in detail about leadership, conflict resolution, international relations and religious tolerance.
After her exchange experience, she launched her initiative in Soran, which is a team of young dedicated volunteers who come together to reach out to people with information on health issues in order to reduce health risks, promote healthy lifestyle and provide psychological support for students. Moreover, this initiative has engaged youths from diverse backgrounds to foster social cohesion and coexistence. Recently, she has been selected as a finalist in a competitive pool of more than 900 applicants to attend AMENDS conference, to be held at Oxford University, June 28-July 2, 2018.
In this event, she will give a TED-style talk on Oxford university stage, mainly about her background and her experience in volunteerism and her current initiative.
AMENDS conference is to facilitate a platform for promising youth leaders working from across the Middle East, North Africa and the United States to maximize their initiatives by providing them access to opportunities for developing key skills, networking with established leaders and sharing their initiatives with a larger audience.
