The Medical Education Department at the College of Medicine conducted a series of workshops on the Communication is a Core Clinical Skill.
The series of workshops started on 16 December 2020 and was repeated every other week for 10 times, each time with 20 participants to include most of the teaching staff at the college and teaching staff from all study modules. The workshop was moderated by Dr. Sameerah Abdulrahman, the Clinical Skills Coordinator.
The workshop aimed to explain the essential need of teaching communication skills in medical education, compare between traditional history taking and Calgary Cambridge guide for medical interview, and choose to teach (patient centered interview depending on Calgary Cambridge guide).
It also aimed to demonstrate communication skills for establishing initial rapport, identify list of patients problem, questioning technique, attentive listening, and summarization.
