At the College of Pharmacy, on October, 2022, the Quality Assurance of the College of Pharmacy held the seminar entitled "Nitrate in our diet and its health impact"

The presenter, Sherzad khorsheed RASHID, lecturer at Hawler Medical University, provided vital information on the importance of nitrate in our diet. The presenter focused on the role of endogenous nitric oxide and how it has protective mechanism against the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases.

 Workshop Outcome

At the end of workshop all the participants were familiar with the following points in research reference citation skill:

  • The importance of nitrate in our diet.
  • The role of endogenous nitric oxide and how it has protective mechanism against the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Emphasize how exogenous source of nitrite or nitrate has deleterious effect on redox system and lead to the production of excess free radicals and oxidative stress.

 Speaker Information

Sherzad khorsheed RASHID, lecturer at Hawler Medical University. He has MD degree (Nephrologist) and got his PhD in Pharmacology from university of Strasbourg (France). In addition, he serves as a peer reviewer for a number of international journals. He is also a member of editorial board of “European journal of cell Science”. He had supervised two Master researches in Pharmacology and currently supervising two Master thesis on oral pharmacology.
