 Erbil Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Editorial Board Proposes Special Issue and Fee Waivers for International Authors

The editorial board of the Erbil Journal of Nursing and Midwifery held a strategic meeting at the College of Nursing to evaluate current publication workflows, peer-review methodologies, and academic standards. The session was led by the Editor-in-Chief, Assist. Prof. Dr. Dara Al-Banna, alongside the Dean of the College, Assist. Prof. Dr. Vian Afan Naqishbandi, with full participation from the journal's editorial team.

The primary objective of the session was to systematically assess the peer-review process and discuss methods for upgrading the journal's indexing status in global academic databases. Assist. Prof. Dr. Dara Al-Banna presented an overview of recent manuscript submissions, detailing acceptance rates, reviewer response times, and formatting alignment with international publishing criteria. The team analyzed strategies to streamline the editorial timeline while maintaining a rigorous double-blind peer-review framework to ensure scientific integrity.

To increase the journal's global reach and citation impact, the editorial board proposed the introduction of a dedicated special issue designed to accommodate a high volume of specialized academic publications. Furthermore, the team established a formal recommendation to offer free-of-charge publishing opportunities for international authors. This policy aims to encourage high-quality global submissions and diversify the journal's contributor network. Assist.
