The College of Nursing at Hawler Medical University organized a high-impact educational activity entitled:

“Role Play of Emergency Basic Life Support: Case Scenario Management for Down Victim.”

This simulation-based training was arranged by Assistant Professor Dr. Jawdat Mamand as part of the College’s commitment to strengthening practical clinical competencies and enhancing emergency preparedness among nursing students.

The activity involved structured emergency role-play scenarios replicating real-life situations of managing an unresponsive patient. Students demonstrated systematic assessment, rapid decision-making, and evidence-based intervention in simulated emergency settings. The session emphasized early recognition of cardiac arrest, activation of emergency response systems, identification of abnormal breathing, performance of high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and safe transportation techniques in cases of head and spinal injuries. In addition, the activity highlighted professional nursing roles, ethical responsibility, teamwork, and clinical accountability in emergency care.

The simulation was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Vian Naqshbandi, Dean of the College of Nursing, academic teaching staff, and students, who observed the emergency scenarios and engaged in academic discussions regarding clinical performance, response accuracy, and quality improvement in emergency nursing practice.

This initiative reflects the College’s dedication to integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on simulation training, ensuring that nursing graduates are equipped with the critical skills, confidence, and professional competence required to manage life-threatening emergencies effectively.

Hawler Medical University continues to advance innovative teaching strategies that promote excellence in clinical education and patient safety.
