She highlighted that, if left untreated, the condition may lead to complications such as anemia, pre-eclampsia, miscarriage, premature birth, and problems with the baby’s neurological development. Because its symptoms can easily be confused with normal pregnancy-related changes, Dr. Zaki emphasized the importance of early screening. She also reassured listeners that hypothyroidism can be effectively managed with appropriate treatment and regular medical follow-up, encouraging pregnant women to attend their antenatal appointments regularly .
