The Directorate of Career Development and Entrepreneurship Center (CDC) at Hawler Medical University participated in a specialized training program for employment and professional development consultants, held from 4 to 6 November 2025.
Organized by the International Labour Organization, the program brought together experts from labor development centers, universities, and institutions of labor, social affairs, and vocational training across the provinces of Erbil, Sulaimani, Duhok, Halabja, and Nineveh.
The training aimed to enhance support for students and university graduates in their professional development within the Kurdistan Region. Over three intensive days, participants engaged in discussions and activities covering a wide range of topics, including:
- The global realities of work and the impact of crises on employment
- Unemployment and its chain reactions
- The counseling profession, roles, and skills of employment counselors
- Employment counseling activities and adapting services to job seekers
- Career choice guidance and job search strategies
- Specialized support for job seekers
- Principles of working with companies and building partnerships
- Employer expectations and employment counseling tools
- Job search tools and the preparation of personal profiles and résumés
