Career Counseling and Development Policy for Pharmacy Students and Graduates

To become a leading career counseling program that prepares pharmacy students and graduates for successful, ethical, innovative, and sustainable careers in healthcare, pharmaceutical sciences, research, industry, academia, and community pharmacy.

  1. Mission

The Career Counseling Program aims to support pharmacy students and graduates in identifying suitable career pathways, developing professional skills, and connecting academic education with employment opportunities.

The program will provide career guidance, skills training, internships, mentoring, networking, and employment support in collaboration with the Hawler Medical University Career Development Center, healthcare institutions, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, pharmacies, research centers, and other relevant organizations.

  1. Objectives

The main objectives are to:

  1. Provide individual career counseling to students according to their interests, abilities, and career goals.
  2. Identify career pathways in:
    • Community pharmacy
    • Hospital and clinical pharmacy
    • Pharmaceutical industry
    • Drug manufacturing and quality control
    • Regulatory affairs
    • Research and development
    • Academia and teaching
    • Public health
    • Medical and pharmaceutical technology
    • Entrepreneurship and private business
  3. Improve employability skills, including:
    • CV and résumé writing
    • Interview skills
    • Communication skills
    • Leadership
    • Teamwork
    • Problem-solving
    • Digital and technological skills
  4. Provide career workshops and seminars involving pharmacists, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical companies, employers, and successful alumni.
  5. Develop internship and practical training opportunities through cooperation with hospitals, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, laboratories, and other healthcare organizations.
  6. Establish an alumni career network to provide mentoring, employment information, and professional networking.
  7. Support entrepreneurship and innovation by encouraging students to develop pharmaceutical and healthcare-related projects and businesses.
  8. Monitor graduate employment outcomes and use graduate feedback to improve career counseling services.
  9. Ensure equal access to career counseling for all students and graduates without discrimination.
