With the aim of supporting and further developing the teaching competencies of university instructors,
particularly those who have previously completed teaching methodology courses, Hawler Medical University (HMU) is pleased to announce the opening of an Intensive Short Course in Pedagogy.
The course is designed for academic staff who have previously completed teaching methodology training and aims to update and enhance their pedagogical knowledge and teaching competencies through exposure to contemporary teaching methods, student-centered learning approaches, effective teaching strategies, and modern assessment practices.
The course is offered in accordance with Ministry Decree No. (15620), dated August 24, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Article Twenty-Three of Directive No. (4) of 2021 concerning pedagogical training courses in universities in the Kurdistan Region.
Eligibility: The course is open to academic staff who:
- Hold a Master’s or PhD degree/or its equitable and one of the following permanent academic titles: Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Professor.
- Have previously completed an approved Teaching Methods Course.
- Academic staff who completed their teaching methodology training before 2021 are also eligible, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Benefits of Participation
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive:
- A Certificate of Participation issued by Hawler Medical University.
- A Letter of Recognition and Appreciation signed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
- Exemption from the quality assurance process for one academic year, in accordance with applicable Ministry regulations.
Registration
Applicants should complete the registration form and provide:
- A copy of their Teaching Methods Certificate.
- The required registration fee of 50,000 IQD (Fifty Thousand Iraqi Dinars).
- Registration using their official university email address.
