On 21 November 2018, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
announced the results of the national university ranking (NUR-KRG) for the years 2017 and 2018. Hawler Medical University has been ranked in the top group of the public universities in Kurdistan region together with 5 other universities. The 6 universities in the top group were placed in alphabetic order. Hawler Medical University was also ranked in the first place in the Academic Staff criteria and was within the top 5 universities in the Library criteria and the Alumni and Private Sector Placement criteria. On this special occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Dara O. Meran thanked and congratulated the faculty staff, students and the university and colleges management for this important achievement.
