Vision

To be a leading center of excellence in microbiology, advancing research and innovation in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and public health at both regional and international levels.

Mission

The Microbiology Department is committed to delivering research-driven education and advanced laboratory training that prepare graduates for professional excellence in medical microbiology.

We equip students with strong scientific knowledge, practical competencies, and critical thinking skills to contribute to the diagnosis, prevention, and control of infectious diseases, while supporting the development of evidence-based healthcare systems.

Strategic Priorities

1. Academic Excellence

  • Deliver competency-based curricula aligned with international standards
  • Integrate digital learning, simulation, and laboratory-based training
  • Achieve high levels of student satisfaction and academic performance

2. Research & Innovation

Focus on priority areas such as:

  • Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
  • Infectious diseases
  • Microbial pathogenesis
  • Increase peer-reviewed publications and research output annually
  • Promote interdisciplinary and applied research with measurable impact

3. Community & Health Impact

  • Collaborate with hospitals, laboratories, and public health institutions
  • Support disease prevention, diagnosis, and public awareness initiatives
  • Contribute to strengthening regional healthcare systems

4. Internationalization

  • Expand international research collaborations and academic partnerships
  • Increase participation in high-impact journals and global conferences
  • Develop student and staff exchange programs

Key Strengths

  • Active contribution to peer-reviewed research publications (2024–2025)
  • Engagement in environmental, biomedical, and public health research
  • Integration of modern laboratory techniques and digital learning systems
  • Participation in internationally indexed research (DOI-based publications)

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Microbiology program will be able to:

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of microbial diversity and disease mechanisms
  • Perform and interpret laboratory techniques in bacteriology, immunology, and molecular microbiology
  • Apply scientific research and evidence to solve microbiological problems
  • Practice biosafety, biosecurity, and ethical laboratory standards
  • Evaluate the role of microorganisms in human health and environmental systems
