HMU recognizes that participation in external academic and professional activities can contribute to academic development, knowledge exchange, and collaboration with other higher education institutions.
However, the University's primary expectation is that full-time academic staff devote their professional effort to fulfilling their responsibilities to HMU.
External activities shall therefore be undertaken only where they:
- comply with applicable legislation and Ministry regulations;
- receive the required University approval before commencement;
- do not conflict with the employee's duties;
- do not adversely affect teaching, research, clinical service, student supervision, or administrative responsibilities.
