Pharma Future 2026: Celebrating World Pharmacists Day and the Future of Pharmacy
On 26 September 2026, the Pharmacy Conference, Pharma Future, was held in Erbil to mark World Pharmacists Day. The conference was organized in coordination between the College of Pharmacy at Hawler Medical University and the Kurdistan Pharmacists Syndicate.
The event was attended by Dr. Saman Barzanji, Minister of Health; Prof. Dr. Ali Abdulrazaq Al-Dabbagh, President of Hawler Medical University; Assist. Prof. Dr. Huner Kamal Omer, Dean of the College of Pharmacy; Assist. Prof. Dr. Baref Zahir Rashid, Head of the Kurdistan Pharmacists Syndicate; and a number of distinguished guests and pharmacists.
The program featured presentations on emerging approaches to understanding and treating disease, the experiences of Kurdish pharmacists abroad, and the impact of artificial intelligence on pharmacy practice. A panel discussion also explored career opportunities across the pharmaceutical sector. Interactive activities for pharmacists and a group photograph concluded the event.
The conference provided an opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen links between academia and the profession, and discuss the future of pharmacy in the Kurdistan Region.
