Successful Conclusion of the Summer Training Course for College of Pharmacy Students

Based on the prior approval from the university administration regarding our summer project،Under the supervision of the Career Development Center (CDC) Directorate and under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy,

A summer training course was conducted from July 13 to July 23, 2026, for students of the College of Pharmacy at Hawler Medical University, aimed at enhancing their academic and practical expertise.

This comprehensive course, titled "Community Pharmacy Practice," was specifically designed for fifth-year pharmacy students and recent graduates, hosting approximately 30 participants. The primary objective of the program was to develop the participants' skills across various pharmaceutical fields, preparing them for professional practice in pharmacies and the labor market.

The training was delivered by a distinguished panel of expert academic trainers:

  • Prof. Dr. Dana Mohammad Amin
  • Younis Sadiq Ismail
  • Botan Abdulqadir Saleh
  • Hemin Latif

The course covered five core practical pillars:

  • Community Pharmacy Foundation: Covering essential management principles, logistics, and professional standards in pharmacy practice.
  • Dispensing & Prescription Verification: Training on medicine dispensing, prescription analysis, and identifying potential drug interactions.
  • Patient Counseling & OTC Selection: Focusing on patient communication skills and the selection of over-the-counter (OTC) medications.
  • Dermatology, Maternal & Infant Care: Providing guidance on managing dermatological conditions as well as maternal and child healthcare.
  • Compounding & Real Clinical Cases: Developing practical skills in pharmaceutical compounding and managing real-world clinical cases.

At the conclusion of the course, certificates of appreciation were presented to the trainers, followed by the distribution of certificates of participation to all attendees. Special awards were also presented to the top three performing participants.
