In the Name of Allah

On behalf of the entire department staff, I am honored to welcome you to the Clinical Biochemistry departmental page, established in 2012-2013 at the College of Health Sciences, Hawler Medical University.

The Department of Clinical Biochemistry, College of Health Sciences, Hawler Medical University, offers a full-time four-year BSc Clinical Biochemistry program. The program specifically aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of clinical biochemistry theory and practice, as applied in contemporary health science laboratories. In particular, the program seeks to develop their academic, practical, professional, and communication skills.

After graduating, clinical biochemists work in various settings such as primary health care centers, governmental hospitals, private hospitals, health centers, and medical research centers.

Vision

The department of clinical biochemistry aims to achieve excellence in biochemistry education, scientific research, and community services by leveraging its academic and research expertise and collaborating with relevant national and international departments and institutions.

Mission

To advance the science and practice of clinical chemistry and laboratory through quality leadership and innovation excellence in professional training, standard of patient care, research, improved communication, and understanding of disease through training courses, workshops, We aim to train proficient graduates who possess exceptional skills, enabling them to comprehend the fundamental biological processes within the human body, whether in health or illness, and to engage in scientific research across all medical fields.

Course Objectives:

During the study, students should be able to demonstrate competence in preparing and interpreting a variety of clinical specimens, including appropriate documentation, which may include working with laboratory information systems. Students should also exhibit appropriate behaviours with respect to interpersonal relationships, dependability, integrity, and professionalism.

Students will have demonstrated competence in the following areas, meeting the objectives of the clinical courses.

At each clinical site, they conduct themselves according to the laboratory policies and procedures.

-Accountability for accurate, independent pre-resulting interpretation for a variety of clinical specimens and the responsibility for professional behavior of a practicing.

Participation in staff review of procedures with Medical Laboratory Scientists and Laboratory Directors.

Participation in laboratory organization, including manual and/or computerized record-keeping and reporting systems, quality control, and quality assurance procedures.

Undergraduate students will learn about a range of disciplines in the field of clinical biochemistry.
